Children’s book author-illustrator Mark G. Mitchell hosts How to Be a Children’s Book Illustrator from his drawing table in Austin, Texas. His illustrations have appeared in his own and other authors’ books and in children’s magazines, including Appleseeds, Cobblestone and Cricket.
Mark’s writings have appeared in American Artist, Drawing, Workshop and Watercolor magazines. For several years he was a contributing editor of Watercolor magazine.
How to Be a Children’s Book Illustrator explores the changing world of children’s publishing with articles (and interviews) on drawing, designing and painting with traditional and digital tools.
The blog supports an online course that Mark teaches, Make Your Splashes; Make Your Marks: How to Create Effective Illustrations for Children’s Books, Magazines and Other Media. This unique home study course teaches powerful approaches to drawing, illustrating and painting, as well as how to develop true artistic confidence and market one’s work.
